Where to probe in the interview

Didn't source the churn assumptionShe accepted the AI’s mid-market churn rate without asking where it came from. Ask how she would verify it before using it in a decision.
  • "Where would you have checked the churn rate before putting it in front of the CFO?"
  • "If the October renewals hadn't existed, would you still have held the forecast?"
  • "Which of the AI's suggestions did you discard and why?"

Her decision, in her own words

"Keep the Q4 forecast. Q3 came in 4.4% under plan, not 6.2%. Marcus pulled the wrong plan version. Of that miss, $1.1M is renewals that signed on October 3, so the underlying gap is about 2%. I'd hold the forecast, call out the slipped renewals for the board and add a churn watch on mid-market before changing anything. I used Marcus's draft structure but not his numbers, which didn't match the source files."Written at 49:20 · included unedited
